Summit Veterinary Services is celebrating 22 years here in
Holts Summit, because Dr. Dean Bates had a goal of owning his own Veterinary Hospital in the Jefferson City area.
He was raised on the family farm in St. Elizabeth and has strong ties to this area. Dr. Bates and his wife went to college locally with Dr. Bates attending University of Missouri in Columbia; and Stacey attending William Woods University in Fulton. They and their children Deanna and Nathan enjoy the family pets, which include their 5 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses, 1 burro and many chickens.
Dr. Jeanna Smith joined us in 2015 and is a graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Her passion for animal care began while living on her family's beef farm in southern Missouri. She appreciates the role veterinary medicine allows her to have in prolonging and optimizing the relationships people have with their pets. Dr. Smith is accepting both Large and Small Animal patients. She and her husband Chip live in Holts Summit with their son Trey and their 2 hound dogs Ruby and Conway.
The Small Animal and Equine Hospital was built off of State Road AA in the summer of 1998 allowing Summit Veterinary Services to care for more patients; and a new cattle facility was built in 2015.
The staff includes knowledgeable Receptionists who pride themselves on educating the client and seeing the relationship between pets and their owners stay strong and healthy.
The Veterinary Assistants strive to keep the Doctors working efficiently and are very skilled with the animals, giving them the best of care and attention when they are in the hospital.
The Kennel Assistants enjoy the hands on daily care of the animals and we are proud that through the years, many of them have gone on to successful careers in Veterinary Medicine.
